Our Patrons and Trustees are the people who represent The Holistic Cancer Centre in the outside world and lend their expertise and knowledge to the centre itself, so we know we are doing all we can to provide an exceptional service.

These people come from all walks of life, including cancer care, health and social care, research, banking, the public service and the arts and entertainment industry.

We are grateful for their essential input and their generosity in donating their time, effort and support. These people are the unpaid hero’s of the charity. Give them a wave!

Our Patrons:

Pauline Daniels WHCS

Pauline Daniels

Pauline Daniels celebrated 40 years in show business in 2020 and what better way to do it than to become a Patron of The Holistic Cancer Centre.

Pauline started her career as a singer and then she found that making people laugh was an amazing high and has been doing that ever since, the only woman to appear on Granada’s The Comedians and many other TV programmes followed. In 1986 she took her first legitimate steps as an actress in Chicago and then many theatre shows including Gypsy, Shirley Valentine, Twopence to cross the Mersey, Fiddler on the Roof, Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night to name a few. She has been a voice on Radio Merseyside, spent 12 months in Brookside and two series of The Street for Jimmy McGovern are amongst her TV acting credits. 2018/19 saw Pauline on Tour in Tim Firths Calendar Girls, with music by Gary Barlow.

Pauline is married to Frank a former Lord Mayor of Liverpool and is Mum to Sarah and Granny to Peaches an adorable rescue Bichon Frise. She is an avid football fan and being born in Birkenhead obviously Tranmere Rovers are her second team with Liverpool just in front as her number one.

She is very proud to be on board at The Holistic Cancer Centre as she knows first hand the needs of cancer patients as she herself is a breast cancer survivor. She hopes that with her help we can put The Holistic Cancer Centre well and truly on the map.

Our Board of Trustees:

Allan Brookes – Chairman of Trustees

Allan become a Trustee in April 2022 – he has previously volunteered to support Princes’ Trust programmes in the local area for several years and decided it was time for a change!

Allan is a career Civil Servant who brings a wealth of experience in Operational and Project/Change Management, Continuous Improvement, Senior Leadership, HR and Governance & External Scrutiny from his various roles within DWP and currently HMRC.

When not working (or at the Centre!) he can often be seen around the neighbourhood walking his dogs or enjoying a run.

Yvette WHCS

Yvette Marsden-Beckett - Trustee

Yvette worked for a national bank for over 20 years in Management Development and Training. She was Manager of the Administration Team and also helped create and implement Personal Development plans for the whole company of over 3000 nationally. Unfortunately ill health forced Yvette to leave the company.

Yvette was introduced to The Holistic Cancer Centre through her father who was a Patron and has helped out over the years with various fundraising projects. She has always felt The Holistic Cancer Centre is a very important asset to the community and can now speak from personal experience having been diagnosed with breast cancer. She says that she ‘benefitted greatly from the treatments provided, wonderful staff and the whole experience of attending The Holistic Cancer Centre’ and is honoured to have become a Trustee to help take the Charity forward whilst continuing the success of the last 30+ years.

Andrea McKevitt - Trustee

Andrea came to the centre 5 years ago after she had finished treatment for cancer. She was unable to go back to work as a mobile hairdresser of 20 years and came to Wirral Holistic Care for some reflexology. She was asked to join the craft group which meet on Monday afternoons. Andrea became a regular at the group which she really enjoyed, making things to sell at the fairs to raise money for the centre. She became a Patient Trustee in January 2022 and was delighted to give back for all the help and support she been given from the centre and staff.

Long Time Patron and Friend:

Gerry Marsden MBE

Gerry Marsden MBE

A dedication to our most treasured patron – the well-loved Merseybeat singer and musician, Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers, best-known for the ever-popular “Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. Gerry spent many years supporting us, raising thousands for the Centre and participating in our fundraiser events, including playing in celebrity golf matches and singing and entertaining on behalf of the charity. He also cut the ribbon when we first opened our shop. We remember him fondly for the warm-hearted, funny, generous person he was – we thank you for not only championing us, but being a real friend of the Centre.
